The den
THE ZOO-REFUGE: Presentation
In France, there are many zoological parks which constitute a privileged place to meet many animal species, most of them wild or exotic. La Tanière is developing a completely different concept. Neither for profit, nor enrichment of an animal collection plan, reproduction program or search for the most beautiful specimen of a species to enhance the refuge. The Lair does not welcome an animal “because it interests it” but because no other survival solution is available to it.
This unique park is either a zoo-refuge or a zoo refuge. Whether it is a squirrel, an elephant or a domestic animal, everything is done to provide it with care, protection, well-being and dignity. Here, all the animals have a story and an often chaotic past: mistreated, illegally detained, trafficked, used in circuses or laboratories, they are collected to finally live a peaceful existence. All are rescue animals. It is this observation, the urgency and the meeting of individuals whose common denominator is this boundless love dedicated to an animal world in distress, which gave birth to The den.
